Okay … we’re tanned, we’re rested, we’re ready. After taking a little hiatus, [Teemings : The Online E-zine of the Straight Dope Community](http://www.teemings.com/) is back in business again, and we’re looking for your contributions. We’ll still be featuring our regular gang of contributors; Scylla, Cal Meacham and MandaJo. (Fenris, sadly has had to beg off for the time being.) But it’s _your_ submissions that really make Teemings what it is. If you have questions about what we’re looking for, take a look at our [Introduction](http://www.teemings.com/introduction.html) and the [Editorial Guidelines](http://www.teemings.com/editorial_guidelines.html). Don’t be shy! we really want to hear from you. Your stuff is probably a lot better than you think it is. We’ve seen very little writing from the Teeming Millions that we’ve rejected. In other news, we’ve opened a [Teemings Store](http://www.cafeshops.com/teemings)! This is just to offset the cost of the server space and the domain name registration. Any leftover proceeds will be contributed to the American Red Cross. There is also a chance that through the store we will be offering bound versions of past issues. That’s still up in the air, and once again any proceeds will be going to charity. I’m also looking at the possibility of offering [What if “The Lord of the Rings” had been written by someone else …](http://www.teemings.com/extras/lotr/index.html) as a bound version for charity. Spavined: Yeah but the company (CafePress) offers a lot of products, including kick ass steins. They’re huge and heavy and have a gold rim and they are totally neato-keeno-boss. ---

I’m glad Teemings is back. Many thanks for the work put into it. Euty and Co. deserve a lot of credit for doing all this work free fer nuthin’ and we should support and encourage their efforts by submitting stuff. Odd that so many people say how much they appreciate Teemings, yet so few contribute. C’mon, folks, let’s see those submissions! ---

“Teemings” thongs and panties … Hmmm … I suppose in order to hold to the high standards that we’ve set for ourselves I’d need some sort of photographic proof that this type of item was being actually used. 😉 The stein … that’s doable. I’m sure we’ll be adding more items as we go along. What the heck … it’s not like we have to stock the stuff or anything. And remember … _it’s for a good cause!_ Okay, I think I’ve used up my quota of ellipses for the day. We’re already getting some good stuff coming in. For those of you who aren’t familiar with what we do or how we run things, let me give you just a few general ideas. You send what you have to us. Initially, you’ll get the form letter that just tells you we’ve recieved it. Most likely, if your piece is complete dreck, you’ll hear back from us within a few days. I’ll try to give you some ideas on how it could be improved if I can. As much as I have the time, I’ll work with you to whip a piece into shape but don’t send in a halfway done item thinking that either I or my lovely harem of proofreaders and editors will do the work for you. (Yeah, just ask **Biggirl** about that. She wrote a lovely piece about romance books which I asked her to expand a little on and then I promptly went and lost her expansion.) Your piece then sits on my hard drive while I decide what to do with it. Ideally, I’d like to get a good backlog of writings so we don’t have to sweat it out seeing if we have enough to make a full issue. That means that you may not see your piece in print right away but may be on hold for a future issue. As I said, I tend to send rejection letters right away, so if you don’t get one within a week, your piece is probably on the pile waiting to be used. That means that techincally we don’t have a deadline except for the next issue. You can send in your work pretty much anytime. We’re shooting for the next issue to come out on May 1st. The deadline for submissions _for this issue_ will be a month beforehand, on April 1st. I know that seems like a long way away, but that will give everbody a chance to get all their ducks in a row and get things together properly. Besides, my divorce will be final right around then and this seems like a good way to celebrate. 😉 While I’m at it, I want to give a big salute to all the people who have lent a hand and their skills with this. **DavidB** was my co-editor and co-developer of Teemings when we first got the idea to do it. **Chrisctp** was our first graphics co-ordinator but left when real life began to intrude. \*\*Gaudere \*\* has since been doing our graphics for both the main issues and Teemings Extras as well. **Chef Troy** jumped into the editorial and proofreading shoes when **DavidB** left to do other things, and was joined by **Persephone** as an assistant editor soon after. **Chef Troy** wandered away to concentrate on other things and **Persephone** has stepped into his waders, now assisted by **Juniper200**. Thanks to all of you. The success of Teemings owes everything to your hard work. ---
