Teen movies you (secretly or out of the closet) do like.

In alpha order:

American Pie (Haven’t seen the sequel)
Bring It On
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (“Does Elvis talk to you?”)
Clueless
Can’t Hardly Wait
Fast Times at Ridgemont High (“Dude, that’s my skull.”)
Footloose
Heathers
Anything starring John Cusack
Anything by John Waters and/or featuring Brat Packers, period.

I’m a sucker for the genre, but only if it’s well done. I always get a kick out of watching the Buffy movie and seeing Hilary Swank as the very valled out airhead pseudofriend, and thinking “From Buffy to Oscar. Not bad.”

Did no one out there like Trojan War? I thought this one was absolutely hilarious.

I take the most embarrassing delight in the guy who plays Stiffler on American Pie. He was great in Road Trip and both AP movies. Okay in Dude Where’s My Car (yes, I’ll go see the sequel, or at least rent it) but I thought he was useless in Jay & Silent Bob.

His name is Seann Michael something, or somesuch, I’m too lazy to look it up and don’t care overmuch since I’m not planning to join his official fan club. I just fine him really hilarious. He makes teen movies worthwhile.

I have to say that I wasn’t such a big fan of that movie. Pattrick Depsey was such a douchebag that I wanted him to get an ass-beating, not a hot chick. Complete dorks don’t get the rich hot girl. It would have been better if he was a brooding artsy loner or a misunderstood guy from the wrong side of the tracks.

I found him much funnier in that movie where he was a pizza -delivering man-whore.

Gotta agree with Athena:

Better Off Dead has to top my list. (“Now that’s a real shame, when folks be throwin’ away a perfectly good white boy like that…”)

Also at the top is Heathers (“nag nag nag Nag NAG!”)

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

Fifteen Years?!?
::looks at calendar::
Damn… where DID the time go?

I loved that movie when it came out - even wrote about it in my journal - will have to see if I can find it for rent somewhere…

(bops over to IMDB)
Patrick Dempsey was the lead… he was in Scream 3 as Detective Mark Kinkaid … skip the (NOT flattering) photo on his main page & check out some of the others - he’s still a cutie!

Amanda Peterson was the love interest - she hasn’t done much since then.

Oooh! Seth Green was Chuckie Miller (?) – now I gotta go find it!

I like the American Pie movies, Road Trip, Dead Man on Campus, Dude, Where’s My Car, Jawbreaker, 10 Things I Hate about You, She’s All That, Can’t Hardly Wait, Cruel Intentions (although I like Dangerous Liasons better, and why is there a Cruel Intentions 2 with the same plot???), Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, High School Rock n Roll (Forever and Ever), Dazed and Confused, Sugar and Spice and Suburbia.

I have seen every aspect of Dead Man on Campus in reality (although slightly exaggerated) at my University, and as far as Dude, Where’s My Car goes…there are some movies that were intended to be stupid, and in their stupidity they are hilarious. Dude, Where’s My Car is one of them. Sugar and Spice is a bit in the intentionally stupid movie category, but I think that for what it’s worth, it’s a pretty good satire.

Seann William Scott, Cranky. And don’t forget him in Evolution.

Gotta agree with Better Off Dead and The Breakfast Club, my all-time favourites.

I also like The Year My Voice Broke, an Aussie movie starring Noah Taylor (remember Shine?). But I haven’t seen it in yonks.

Porky’s anybody? Revenge of the Nerds?

Does just having teens as the main characters make it a teen movie? If so, I’ll throw in Halloween as a fave. Most of mine have been mentioned:

The Breakfast Club
Weird Science
Real Genius
Can’t Buy Me Love
Ferris Beuller’s Day Off
Heathers
Reality Bites
(okay, any Winona Ryder movie. hubba, hubba)
Better Off Dead (hey! I’m related to the two dollar kid!)
American Pie
Ten Things I Hate About You
No Small Affair
Morgan Stewart’s Coming Home
Some Kind of Wonderful
The Pickup Artist
Chances Are

Gawd, the list goes on…

Nobody has mentioned Detroit Rock City yet?!?! I am not much of a KISS fan, but I completely enjoyed this movie.

I’ll give a hearty vote for Better off dead, Sixteen Candles, Fast Times, Valley Girl, Real Genius, and Heathers. Dag nabbit, I’m sure I’m missing a few, some most likely already listed(too lazy to scan through and find 'em).

[Heathers]I love my dead gay son![/Heathers]

What was that Freddie Prinze Jr/Julia Stiles romance? I love that…

This is my thread!
I love 'em all.
Whoever said *Clueless[/i[ was bad, you’re kidding, right?
It’s only the best movie ever made!
:stuck_out_tongue:
In addition to all listed here, I also like The Rachel Papers,
Before Sunrise (although technically they’re college kids),
and we went to see one young teen movie last night that was really good,
The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys.

Well, I thought of some more on the way home from work:

Orange County (well, it wasn’t too bad)
Johnny B. Goode (Uma’s first movie!)
Dazed and Confused
Samantha
Calendar Girl
Scream
Grease
Finding Forrester
Three O’Clock High
(Probably my favorite “high school” movie)
Class of 1984
Class of Nuke 'Em High
Jawbreaker
Down To You
(that’s the one you were thinking of sidle)
For Keeps
The Faculty
Halloween H2O
Teaching Mrs. Tingle

There. Now I can sleep. :o

How about Cry-Baby. Any movie with Johnny Depp as a bad boy on a motorcycle has to be good right?
