Suicide as a crime is absurd because you’d have to prosecute a corpse, and it cannot interview witnesses. What I think you meant is suicide attempt used to be a crime, but that doesn’t make your joke funny.

Suicide *itself *used to be a crime. In Europe (a few hundred years ago), one could be tried and punished, even though dead.

Also, why should you be attacking newbies?–everyone is a newbie when they join. I am indeed a newbie here, but I am an oldie on several other sites. Thus I do not think it is a good idea to discount and mock newbies just for being newbies. How about saving any vitreol for the question on the table? Or is it just an inner need to ridicule other people? The world is not such a bad place–wake up and smell the roses. :)

Believe in reincarnation could extend punishment to the next life. Read a SciFi book about that and punishment to several reincarnations, and taken as a infant till how long the soul would survive (about 12 yrs in torment till next go 'round), totally scary stuff.
