Since someone has ressurected this thread, it seems to me the right place to ask this - I was having a few friends over for dinner the other night and we got to talking about this topic. One thing that we all vaguely recalled (but couldn’t definitely pinpoint) was a TV news incident that happened probably in the late 70s. It happened on a NYC area news show. One of the anchors was just finishing up a story about a serial rapist (either just having been caught, or police were still looking for him.) They cut to the weather report. And the weatherman made a straightfaced comment in a very cheerful tone that (paraphrasing) “Ladies, If ever you find yourself in a situation where you’re about to get raped and escape is impossible, why not just lie back and enjoy it?” Does anyone remember that - or who the weatherman was? As far as unforgettable TV moments since this thread was first posted, I’ll add **Mad Men** - the John Deere tractor episode. ---

The _Columbia_ disaster. I’ll remember that one for a long, long time: Waking up in a cold freshmen dorm room, my three roomates still asleep, and seeing the story on Slashdot while still-half asleep. Didn’t seem real until I turned on the television and saw the footage of falling debris. ---

Three years ago, there was a TV show that got canceled almost immediately, called _The Ex List_. I saw what I guess was the pilot, the one with Eric Balfour. There’s a song that Eric sings at the end–or a part of a song–that his character wrote. It makes sense in context, but it’s both a spoiler for the episode & kind of random out of context.Revenge is stronger than love, revenge, revenge, revenge. ---
