television programs with title screens very 'of that time'

And you don’t want to think about CSI: Mayberry. The episode where Otis in a drunken rage murders Opie is especially disturbing. At least the rape occurs off camera.

And then you realize the show that started at 8:00 is still flashing cast members and executive producers at the bottom of the screen at 8:13.

Go through the One Day at a Time credits. The theme song never changes, but the visuals change a lot. They go from being a visual representation of what the show is about, as clear as The Brady Bunch theme song, to crafty, 80s credits. The production values rise a lot too. You also get to see Valerie Bertinelli’s star rise, as she goes from the least significant position in the credits, to the second-best position.

Oh, watch an 80s drama on Hulu, or something, and experience the teaser they always used to run before the credits to try to grab people who were flipping channels. It’d be a little mini version of what the show was about, minus the ending of course, but occasionally containing minor spoilers.

Now that everyone is recording two things, and planning on watching something else On Demand, and they’ve made up their mind days before, it’s pointless to waste space that could be sold to advertisers trying to grab last-minute viewers.

The title screen for the new show BrainDead came on 18 minutes in.

Wow, I just watched the season one opening on YouTube. It’s shot on film (all the later openings were videotaped like the show itself), I assume because since it was establishing the premise it had to be mostly shot outside. But that station wagon*!* Good god it looks like its from the 40s*!!*
