I did a lot of clubbing in the 90’s. My reason for going was primarily to dance and secondarily have some drinks. Heck, I still head over to Neo once in a while for New Wave Thursdays. There aren’t a lot of places that regularly feature industrial electronica/dance any more. It’s a happy place for me, and I will truly weep if that place ever closes. ---

Just a marginally more civilized dating-and-mating strategy, but still reminiscent of its [original origins](http://files.abovetopsecret.com/files/img/vt4ea5c593.jpg) (from which the term “clubbing” derives). [sub]And if the gentle reader’s intellect is even just marginally more improved than shown in the linked picture, you don’t even need to click on it to know what it’s a picture of.[/sub] ---

Geeky gay male here. With an aversion to embarrassment / humiliation (see [this other thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=663867), now in Café Society). Don’t even know the basic protocols on dealing with a doorman, cover charges (paid to whom?), tipping, etc. And certainly not educated on interaction with fellow clubbers (apart from what is seen in movies). Consequently, have never approached a club. (Am lucky to have found a soulmate in some other manner.) Am glad to see I’m not the only one uneducated in these matters. Thanks, **ThelmaLou**! ---

Watch a documentary on Netflix streaming called _The Electric Daisy Carnival Experience_. Clubbing is like that, only smaller and without carnival rides and circus acts. I think there’s a pretty good chance the experience would actually kill me. ---
