I don’t know anything about your personal beliefs/politics, but it’s definitely a great place if you’re uber-liberal (it’s sometimes referred to as the People’s Republic of Takoma Park).

If you’re concerned about crime safety, you might not want to live in Takoma Park, as they slightly limit your Second Amendment rights there.

I just did a search for four bedroom homes in my zip code (downtown Silver Spring). The cheapest was $370k. The two in my very awesome neighborhood are both in the $450-$500 range.
