Aren’t there a couple of big military installations nearby?
Sure. My company is there ;).
Serious answer though: in my line of work (tax stuff), I have clients from every walk of life. I’d say Vegas actually has the most diverse client base of any of our other offices. Sure, I’ve got clients that are strippers and brothel workers (they go to the other counties to work, but live in Vegas)- heck, I even have a client who is an Elvis impersonator. Of course I’ve got a handful of casino workers of every sort.
Most of my clients are either construction contractors of some sort or sales people (insurance, blah blah). Just like in any other town, actually. Going through the stack of clients on my desk at this given moment, we’ve got: a grocery store manager, two teachers, a doctor, a bookstore owner, and an electrician.
I moved here about a month ago. I’ve just been stationed at Nellis AFB. And I don’t have anything useful to say. So far, my impression of Las Vegas is this: It’s hot. Oh my god it’s hot. It’s so freakin’ hot. How the fuck do people live here? I don’t think I can live here. It’s too damn hot.
Several years ago I remember a large Ocean Spray plant (or maybe it was just a warehouse).
I don’t think the OP is interested in a job at Crazy Horse Too.
RUDE!
(I work at the Rhino, duh).
One thing to know if you are not already a desert-dweller. You will need to drink a lot more water then normal. That no-humidity thing makes the heat more bearable, but will suck your body dry in no time. When my Dad first moved there he suffered through weeks of mid-afternoon headaches and migaines before he figured out he was getting dehydrated during the day.
