Tell me about making my own skin care products

Oh fun! I always get the urge to dabble this time of year (probably because my skin gets so dull in the winter).

I have been too intimidated to try anything that involves melting, emulsifying, etc., but scrubs are always quick and easy. I like to mix epsom salts with a couple drops of jojoba oil and glycerine (just enough to moisten the salt a bit), then add a few drops of essential oil.

Face toners are also one of my favorites. My skin loves witch hazel and rose hydrosol, so I just mix those 1:1.

I’ve always meant to try making my own perfume–you can dilute essential oils in vodka (for a spray) or a carrier oil (for a dab/roll-on). Can’t remember the proportions but it’s easy to find online.

I have bought most of my ingredients from Mountain Rose Herbs for years. They are high-quality and mostly organic, if that matters to you.
