Tell me about non-cable TV

All or nothing, which makes it worse than the old way. My mom still uses antenna and is always complaining with a sarcastic “Digital is SO MUCH BETTER” (taken from ads running during the transition) when a station cuts out. Old way it would never cut out, just get a little worse looking.

more attention might have to be paid to the antenna.

most stations are UHF so a set top antenna is best a loop or bow tie along with the rods.

aiming the antenna is much more important now.

some may need to move the antenna to the attic or roof.

inside a second floor using a better bow tie antenna, i made, i could get some stations for some of the time from 80 miles away.
