Actually, I’m one of those weird people who enjoy days like that. Back in college I managed fireworks tents for Independence Day. I would typically work 60 out of 72 hours, sometimes more if the overnight weather was bad. And I loved it. That’s a much shorter time scale, sure, but it was the first example to pop into my head.
My wife, however, might not share my enthusiasm. We have already talked about her feelings about all this. Right now she is supportive. If I ever get more serious about the idea, we’ll have a lot more talking to do.
About 5 years ago (back when I was still cooking) chefs had the highest divorce rate of any profession. Don’t know if it’s still true - probably. WHY? They’re NEVER home! The first restaurant I worked in after culinary school I worked 100 hours a week. People use to always say to my wife “Oh your husband’s a chef? You must eat well!” To which she replied “No. I make dinner. He’s always at work cooking for other people.”
These days I do all the cooking at home.
Again - if you love it, AND you have your wife’s support then go for it. But be very sure first.
