Because I caught a cheap flight and hotel there, and I’m flying out Saturday! What can I expect when I visit? Should I stray outside the resort? How safe is it there? Can I drink the water? This is my first trip to the Carribean, and it’s gotten cold here in Canada! I’m staying in Luperon. I’m so excited! ---

I went a couple years ago during the summer. Stayed at a really nice, all-inclusive resort. I only strayed from it during touristy-stuff like tours of the cities and god awful tacky gift shops selling mountains of rum and cigars. It was a really nice time, though. It was, obviously, safe within the resort (although I didn’t like walking the streets as much because the poor kids keep coming up to you and trying to get you to buy some crap, which is sad), and I never even tried to drink the water, as bottled was plentiful.
