Tell me about Washington, DC

I’m glad you enjoyed yourself. I think it’s at it’s best in late spring, so you’ll have to come back.

I thought I’d report back on my trip as well. First day was great, went to the botanical gardens where we saw the orchid exhibit and Rick Santorum. Walked through Air and Space Museum, which we found kinda disappointing. Had an amazing dinner at BLT Steak and drinks at Jack Rose. And then in the middle of the night I woke up when a stomach virus kicked in and ruined the rest of the trip. Two days later I managed to wobble through the American History Museum. Will have to try going back another time and not be ill!

By the way, the Liaison Hotel was not much to look at on the outside but the room was gorgeous!

Speaking as a journalist, the Newseum is bunkum. It’s funded by contributions from large media organizations, so there’s obviously not going to be any criticism. An entire wing is sponsored by Fox News, so there’s not going to be any criticism of that organization in general, forget specific trespasses of organizations that at least try to create a semblance of valid journalism.

Interesting to hear about the weirdness of the Even Hotel–turns out it’s a new hotel line from InterContinental that specializes in wellness: http://www.washingtonpost.com/express/wp/2014/08/05/at-rockvilles-even-hotel-guests-have-no-excuse-not-to-exercise/

The Natural History Museum and the Air and Space Museum are the second and third most visited museums in the world and the American History Museum and the National Gallery are in the top twenty too. Perhaps they’ve slacked off a little because they figure why spend more money on them when people are coming anyway.
