Please resend that e-mail to rfgdxm <at> geeks <dot> org. I just checked my inbox, and also the box that all my spam filers catch and shunt it off to. Most likely your e-mail either got lost in transit, or is still trying to make it to me. Try adding “LostGoals” in the subject line.
As for your hijack, figure out the IP range that the scum who is downloading all your pages and images. Then, just server side drop all requests from that IP in the bit bucket. You may need to contact your web host about how to do this. My best guess is you are under a DOS attack. Are your sites commercial? If so, it may be a competitor doing this.
I just re-sent it. Not a problem, a lot of our mail gets caught by spam filters, since some bastard started using a fake email@ourdomains.com for viruses and crap last year.
I banned all the China range as thats where the attack/thief originated. No problems since then. Thanks
Lost Goals, I would LOVE to get a copy of that training manual. You can either email me through my profile or better yet, biddee at candw dot ag. Thank you so much!
A friend and I just got into pretty much the same thing biddee.
I’ve been using yahoo domains to register my domains ($4.95 per/yr). When we were first setting up the DNS it was absurdly late on a friday night and we were still able to get someone to talk us through it from their customer support.
We also just rented a dedicated server (which I’m new at also…two months) and the control panel makes it tolerable to figure out for me. My friend is more server literate than I am.
We’re really getting into this for the web design side rather than the hosting side but figured we’d easily cover the server costs with just a few customers. The server we’re renting is a 160 GB hard drive and 1200 GB monthly bandwidth for around $140 a month. If you want any info on that let me know.
Also, since we’re just getting into this our server is quite empty. If you want, and my friend has no objections, maybe we could work out some kind of reseller package. It’s already got the pop3 email /spam filter and control panel and you’d be free to add a slew of domains. But like I said, we’re new at this too.
Please resend again to rfgdxm <at> gmail <dot> com. Looks like your mail server may be blacklisted and I can’t receive anything you send at my usual e-mail.
