> I have a question too. My fingernails are pretty good… except when I start putting polish on them. After about three polish jobs in a row they begin to flake, bend, and split. I have to grow them out all the way then to make them good again. This has stopped me from getting manicures because I assume they would make the problem worse. What do you think?

How are you taking off your polish? A low/no acetone polish remover should help and a nail buffer is a good idea too to stop any minor flaking from getting worse. Never ever peel off nail polish. Even if it starts to flake get out the polish remover and soak it off.

> I have also started wearing a clear nail polish which helps stop my nails from bending. I have a question though - if I am wearing nail polish, are my nails getting any benefit from the moisturiser?

Not really. However, if you moisturize the cuticles, that’s generally enough. When you take off the polish, do it before a shower, then moisturize after the shower, let it soak in for a few minutes, and wash the moisturizer from your hands and nails if you want to put polish on again. I generally leave the polish off for a day or half day every week or so.
