Tell me about your Subaru Legacy, Mazda 6, or Toyota Camry hybrid

NO car has this!

I have an 03 Outback and love it. But one kid seat and two adults in the back seat made everyone mad.

I think your issues are why people buy minivans. Have you thought about going there?

I’m thinking of all wheel drive for my next car for safety and handling reasons. That’s usually a Subaru. Maybe try another model.

If you need room for two car seats and another person you are definitely into minivan or full size SUV territory and even then it may be cramped.

Is it just the four of you driving around or are there often other people?

I’ve had my 2007 Subaru Outback Legacy since summer 2012. I love it. Hasn’t given me a lick of trouble and I hope to keep it until the day I die (or until we finally get flying cars, whichever comes first :).

But that’s all about all I can say. I don’t have a whole lot of experience driving it on ice.

I’ve owned several Subarus, and found them very reliable. My '92 Legacy wagon nearly made it to 300,000 miles. Back when I lived in the Sierra foothills, I even used them in snowy conditions & was impressed with the handling.
Our current stable includes my 2014 Forester & my wife’s 2014 Legacy. We use the Legacy for longer driving trips, as it is quite comfortable. Recently had my first ride in the back seat & found it plenty roomy. It’s been a couple of decades since I last loaded a child seat in a car, but my impression is that access to one in the back of a Legacy would be very good.

ETA: - I love the backup camera! And have been impressed with the CVT.

You might also want to look at a Hyundai Sonata or Kia Optima.
They come with a longer warranty than the other cars listed in this thread.
Sonatas can be had in hybrid or or gas engined.
I have a 13 Sonata with about 33K on it and I am very happy with it.
I am sure the 15s have all the items on your wish list.

I have a 2014 Mazda 6 and I love it. I basically got the top of the line, so it has all bells & whistles. I especially like the radar controlled cruise control and the rear cross traffic alert. That last one is something you might put on your “must have” list. Basically it will alert you to stuff in back of you (or approaching you) when you back out of a parking spot. I swear it has already saved me from at least one fender bender.

I have a 2014 Mazda 6, but I got it because it is fun to drive, is comfortable on long road trips, looks cool, and gets good mileage; reasons you do not really care about at all. I’ve also not carted kids around in it and we’ve had mild winters so I’ve not yet driven it on snow or ice. But should your priorities change entirely, it is a great car.

I’ve not had any problems with it so far. I do really like the backup camera (and the alert), it makes parallel and reverse angle parking very straightforward.
