I had a 1999 VW Jetta, and it was the biggest piece of crap I’ve ever owned. Within a year of purchasing it, there were three recalls and several major repairs (thankfully covered by the warranty, but pretty inconvenient). And as soon as the warranty ran out, it seemed like my car began to break down even more. The final straw was when my air conditioner conked out and I was told it’d be $3,000 to fix it - $1,500 for the parts and $1,500 for labor. Less than two weeks after that, I traded my lemon in for a Toyota Corolla and haven’t had a problem since.
