When I had my Eero installed, I kept pronouncing it “arrow”, like Eero Saarinen, the architect who designed the Gateway Arch and a major office building in my city. The installer wondered what I was talking about, regarding the “arrow.” ---

I lived in a small neighborhood about 10 years ago where, for some reason I can’t recall, people started naming their networks after bands from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Mine was CHEAP\_TRICK, but we had CREAM, MOODY\_BLUES, and GRAND\_FUNK. I don’t think that they were meant to be someone’s “favorite” band, because they got changed pretty frequently. Some were fairly obscure. I think it was just boomers reminiscing. ---

OK, my wife has clarified things re band names as wifi network names. (See my previous post.) Turns out that it was 2013 and Boston was playing Chicago for the Stanley Cup. One neighbor used BOSTON and then somebody else changed their name to CHICAGO. That’s when I changed mine to CHEAP\_TRICK as a joke. It kept going from there. Hey, I’m 72. Give me a break. ---

Mine is _NSA Surveillance_. Not nearly as creative as the ones listed. One that I once saw, that has stuck in my memory\*, was called _Big Black Cock_ \*unrelated, but another thing that is perpetually stuck in my memory, such that I’ll randomly recite it, was a limerick I was scrawled in a bathroom stall my freshman year of college. _When I get up to wipe my ass I like to pass a little gas It cleans the hole, And dries the bowl, And shows I have a lot of class_ I predict that I’ll be mumbling that one to myself on my deathbed. Memory is a funny thing. ---

I just searched for WiFi networks visible in my building. Most were anodyne things like Bell506 (presumably the apt. no., but one was Warrior of Light. ---
