A thread solely for compiling and commenting on Barack Obama’s gaffes during the 2012 election.
I don’t know of any since the “you didn’t build that” kerfuffle, but since I started a thread about Romney’s gaffes, I thought there should be one for Obama’s as well.
Make that Admiral
Obama referred to the Commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command as General McRaven. That should be Admiral McRaven. McRaven is a former Navy SEAL and is credited with organizing Operation Neptune Spear that resulted in the death of Osama Bin Laden.
Who’s the Senator?
Obama was referring to Todd Akin and his controversial"legitimate rape"statements saying, “the interesting thing here is that this is an individual who sits on the House Committee on Science and Technology, but somehow missed science class.”
The problem is Akin is a candidate for Senate. His opponent, Claire McCaskill, is the Senator who sits of that House Committee on Science and Technology. Oddly CBSNews didn’t notice that this was an error on Obama’s part.
Akin is currently a House Rep, and is on the House Committee for Science. McCaskill is the Senator he is running against and as such can’t be on the House committee. I think you are mistaken.
Uh, you’re saying that McCaskill, currently in the Senate sits on the House Committee on Science and Technology? That’s some feat! Akin is in the House currently, and sits on that committee. He’s running for Senate. McCaskill is the incumbent senator. Maybe that’s why CBSNews didn’t call him out for that non-mistake – it’s all part of the liberal media conspiracy!
In a speech he kept saying “corpse men” instead of “core men” when reading corpsmen on his teleprompter.
When awarding the Medal of Honor to Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta he did not address him by rank and did not salute him.
Granted these were a couple years ago.
Just recently called Admiral McRaven General McRaven.
I know many on this site don’t care but all of the above are very offensive to our military.
Your criteria for what constitutes a gaffe seems quite low. As a rule, if 99.9% of the American public don’t realize someone misspoke, it probably should not be considered a gaffe.
So Obama said that Akin was on the House Committee on Science and Technology. However, Akin actually sits on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
This is the biggest Obama gaffe you can come up with? You actually had the big brass cahones to put this in a thread about “tell me the stupid stuff that Obama has done lately”?
Really?
Really?
You’re pulling our legs right? You just CAN’T think that this rates any more than 0.0003 on the Gaffe Scale.
Yeah. I mean compared with the shit that Mitt comes up with on a weekly basis, that’s nuthin. And to show I am not entirely partisan, I did say that our Veep, Biden, seems to only open his mouth to change feet.
I have to admit I am not eniterly 100& happy with all of Obama’s decisions (such as his dec last year to bow under to the GOPs “gun-to-the-head” demands about raising the debt limit), but Obama just doesnt make too many of those kinds of gaffes.
I think we’re back to Obama leaking classified information. Obviously, the Space Program is going away and this was his way of secretly telegraphing that fact to North Korea.
Yesterday, Former Navy SEAL Don Mann was being interviewed on the Madeleine Brand show (concerning his reaction to the soon-to-be-published book about the ObL raid). He evidently HAD to take a shot at the President, and stated that President Obama goofed when he specified that the raid that resulted in bin Laden’s death had been carried out by SEAL Team Six, rather than just saying that it had been carried out by “Special Forces.”
