But some of us were looking forward to all that!
Okay, I’m speaking for myself then.

The resolution arrived before you posted.
I consulted with an admin before making that last post. You also could’ve fired off the same email at any point during this discussion. It’s a bad idea AND it’s unfeasible. Other than that, it sounds great and I apologize if I gave it short shrift.
Sorry also for rationally considering potential consequences of a proposal. I guess it would’ve been mroe convincing if I’d tossed out a bunch of hyperbole.
Well, duh. First day posting?
See, a few years back it would have been neat to see old people spontaneously catch fire, but now there’s YouTube, and you can find anything you want there. Grandma in flames just isn’t the bargaining chip it used to be.
Let me add my voice to the chorus by saying it’s a bad idea. No, we haven’t tried the experiment, but I think our past experience with socks has given us enough data to know we don’t want to allow even sanctioned footwear. Not only that, but from an administrative side we’d have to manually keep track of who’s whom, and I don’t want to rely on a list that’s (possibly) prone to errors, and one that may not be kept up-to-date.
So, if you want an Administrator’s decision, there ya go.
ETA: By the way, with the exception of Ed, Admins aren’t the boss of other moderators; we’re just mods with extra duties and access on the boards. So, sending a request to an admin just means that we’ll confer with the rest of the staff just like any non-admin mod would.
