Tell us about your favorite female police officers on TV.

I thought the characters on CSI were lab techs, not cops. Am I wrong?

The show in Vegas, yes. The show in New York has 'em holding the rank of detective.

Holly Hunter as Grace Hanadarko in Saving Grace.

Even as a beat-up drunken slutty person she’s smoking hot.

That and Holly Hunter’s voice with that lispy sound or whatever it is is just sonic candy.

While I like The Closer, some of her flaws set my teeth on edge, especially her willingness to endanger civilians to achieve her goals. I keep hoping she will get her comeuppance, but I’m not sure it’s going to happen.

I like Kate Beckett, the star of Castle, partly because she’s hot, and partly because she’s so very empathic and kind to the people who’ve just lost a loved one to violence. She’s also smart, which helps. Kate doesn’t really have any flaws except the plot-necesary fear that forces her keep Castle at arm’s length.

I would watch Sela Ward clean toilets, frankly.

Put me down as another vote for Christine Cagney of “Cagney & Lacey”.

I would’ve voted for Sgt. Dee Dee McCall of Hunter if she’d have lived up to her nickname, “The Brass Cupcake.” She always seemed on the verge of being abducted on very show I saw.

Mary on In Plain Sight. Federal marshalls are a kind of police, I think. She’s one of the most entertaining lead women characters in TV shows I’ve seen recently.

I also liked Annie on the Life on Mars American version. She had a tough time working her way to that spot but she did it…

Debby MacDonald on Animal Cops Detroit.

Real cop. Real kicking ass. In Detroit.

I still have fond memories of Karen Sillas inthe 1993-94 CBS series,* Under Suspicion*.

Yeah, I think they made a mistake turning her from a deputy to GD security chief, it might seem like a similar job, but that girl’s a cop, she belongs in a uniform.
