Hickory and Dickory intersect with Dock some 500 feet apart:

There used to be a Mouse Lane nearby but I believe that area has been developed into a gated community and the name changed.

You remember when airport announcements would say “Smith, John Smith, please pick up the white courtesy phone?”

Perhaps it was a joke, but one my Wife and I heard was “Bond, James Bond please pick up the white courtesy phone”

Got peoples attention, that’s for sure. Bond, James Bond. We are all initially kinda looking around and I just broke up laughing.

The chuch closed/merged in 2005, but the name “St James-Bond United Church” dates back to the 1928 merger between St James Square Presbyterian Church and Bond Street Congregation al Church. [St. James-Bond Church - Wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._James-Bond_Church)

In the movie _Choke_, there are several scenes where the mother is quizzing her son on what the coded message that comes over the PA means.

Remember the hollow flying saucer candies holding a few dots of more candy from the 50s and 60s? Catholics recognized the saucer itself was very similar to the Communion wafer. It turns out the candy was invented _ **by** _ a company that made Communion wafers. Demand for the wafers had been declining, so they decided to try making a candy that uses them. The candy can still be purchased on the web.

> The first flying saucers were produced in the early 1950s when an Antwerp-based producer of communion wafers, Belgica, faced a decline in demand for their product. Astra Sweets now owns the Belgica brand and continue to make the product. Flying saucers are officially registered as a traditional product of Flanders. We have a regular client in our store named James Bond. He does not look like 007 🙂 being somewhere between 50 and 70, and having the demeanor of a very good CPA. He’s a nice guy.

And I have been a good person and never once made any reference to his name - I figure he’s has a lifetime of it!

Totally brilliant fact!

As the wiki notes, there has been a significant resurgence in the popularity of Flying Saucers in the UK over the last few years.

We were at Nyman’s Gardens in Sussex today. From an info board I learned that, in the early years of the 20th Century, an extension to the house there had been designed by the splendidly named Norman Adolphus Evill FRIBA. So - I wondered - A Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects - but did he have a PhD? Sadly not, so far as I can tell, but once you’ve fallen down _that_ rabbit hole…

Doctor Evill #1 - Dr. Frederick Claude Evill - here’s [his obituary](https://www.bmj.com/content/1/3558/528.4) Seems to have been anything but evil(l)

Doctor Evill #2 - Dr. Charles Evill, [currently practicing](https://www.healthshare.com.au/profile/professional/184306-dr-charles-evill/#overview) in Queensland, Australia it would seem. I wonder if anyone ever mentions…

j

BTW - Norman Adolphus Evill has his own wiki - [Norman Evill - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_Evill)

I have usually tried to do the same, if a person has an interesting name like that, or I believe they look like a well known person. Only once, back in the late eightied, did I break this habit. I was working at MSU in East Lansing and a maintence man came to work on one of the big ovens in our Central Bakery. The guy looked SO much like a young Paul McCartney! I aske him “has anyone ever told you…” and he spat out “Yes!” I never even mentioned the name and didn’t finish the question. Since then I haven’t let temptation get to me.

Yeah. Went to a balloon festival. It must have been zero degrees. My beer kept freezing. The balloons where anchored to the ground and they kept the crowd meandering around somewhat warmer by blasting those burners. They where also, of course keeping the balloon from collapsing. I’m rather stunned a balloon didn’t ‘escape’, especially in that cold heavy air.
