# Tell us who you were in pictures... but in pictures not of yourself

I mean, if you want to include pictures of yourself I’m not going to complain, but the idea here is to share pictures of _things_, _events_, _creations_, that show the Dope who we were in the past.

Favorite books, old cars, concert shirts, games, a picture of Einstein to represent that time you got REALLY into relativity, post the picture and a one, two sentence (or five paragraphs, what do we care, this is the Dope) description of the item/what it represents/year, whatever.

But it has to be _about you and your interests_.

Obviously, I’ll start:

This may shock some of you who read my political rantings in other SDMB forums, but in 1997/98, my ex-wife and I had fifty of these bad boys made up which we then distributed to friends and family:

To post pics:

1. Upload to file sharing site (I use Flickr which is free for first 1k pics)

2. Once uploaded, _link to the picture itself_. It’s pretty easy on Flickr, but on other sharing sites this is a more difficult task. Please ask for help, we were once all where you are now.

I have made skillet fried chicken since my early teens:

Back in the 1970s, my family effectively owned the city of Beverly Beach, FL. My uncle bought a fantastic piece of property 25 miles north of Daytona Beach. The property was 2k feet of oceanside and riverside, all one continuous block. Bruce made plans to develop it as a combination campground/mobile home park and since the MHP would effectively _be_ 75% of unincorporated Beverly Beach, we had to provide the entire area with sewage, water, roads, a town hall, and, eventually, coaxial cabling for their TV’s.

Think of it as one of those Disney deals, just smaller:

Just to applaud the concept here, I had a friend in high school who took a still life photo on a pier: his ring, a pipe, a troll doll and an empty glass Coke bottle.

The photo was up on a bulletin board, and people would walk past, glance at it and say “Oh, that’s Omar.”

My car in the final year of high school. This was _extremely_ important to me then, and represented uncountable hours of lawn-mowing, paper routes, and fast food misery. It was 5 years old, and I paid cash for it. The first significant thing in life that was actually mine.

My first car was a '57 Renault Daphine which, after the starter went out, and I lost the crank, I had to push start. I’d turn the key, put it in second, and rock it until it turned over and started putting away, at which point I’d run around and jump in.
