Anyone else remember Aha and his campaign to get a personal welcome from the Perfect Master? It was good stuff and fun reading. Heady times, I haven’t forgotten. ---

While looking for that thread I found the [Are You Famous](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=324567&highlight=Western+Union) thread, from 2004, in post 20 of which can be found the line, “I’ve been to the Marianas trench. Thanks Shayna, nice job. Any chance you could use your search-fu to find the thread that gives this one context? I can’t remember the title. It was the opening round while this is the culmination. Didn’t he first get Ed to welcome him, or maybe Manny, or maybe I’m misremembering it. The one that was my favorite was where he directly appealed to Cecil, sort of humble and bold at once. People started laying bets about whether he would get his welcome or perhaps get smited instead. Thanks for locating this one though, it’s a great read too. I have no idea how you’re doing this though! ---
