Tennessee woman arrested for printing own money after reading online Obama had made it legal

I love this, and it made me think of it:

It's safe for work, from The Simpsons.

Yep. I get them from the bank on special order before we go to Vegas. They make great tips.

Keep political jabs out of this forum. No warning issued.

The police appear to be slow at math. They found “several” other biils estimated to add up to between 30 thousand and 50 thousand dollars?? They couldn’t add it up? Was she printing out 10 thousand dollar bills?

That would give the biggest return on investment. Just go to a 7-11, buy a Slim Jim, and get over $9,000 in change. You can even eat the Slim Jim if you’re so inclined!

She was gonna make trillion dollar bills, but couldn’t count the zeroes needed for the number.

Given how half-assed the counterfeiting was, I wouldn’t be surprised if a bunch of the bills had different values on the front than they did on the back.

Ooh, this has inspired me to conceive of a great scam for her. It’s a variation of the "hand the clerk a bill, get change and then claim you used a 20 when you actually used a 10. Except her bill is both. Hand the clerk the bill with the 10 side up and sometime in the next couple minutes just flip it over and show the 20. If the clerk notices the two different values on the same bill, well, I’m sure Pam can just brazen it out.

Am I to assume you’re joking? They found a stack, and estimated the value. They didn’t count it out for the immediate haul. That’s done later.

The India 1 Rupee note (approx. 2c now) was discontinued partly because of counterfeiting.

I remember a character caught counterfeiting in the late 80’s who had an army of employees buying matches (1 box and change). He was only caught because one of his workers was stealing his rejects. He attributed his success to his realization that the security thread could be economically replicated with a thread made from the foil of Cadbury chocolate bars.

Here’s the best variation of that scam.

Way back in the good old days when Coke was five cents a bottle one could use a Mexican five centavo coin (IIRC) to get a bottle of coke and twenty cents change. Safer than counterfiting and a good ROI.

How is that even profitable?
