The US lost in the Davis Cup to Czech Republic with two of the most frustrating players losing crucial matches. Taylor Fritz (world #5!) and Francis Tiafoe. So much talent, so little mental strength. Taylor is going to be the men’s version of Jessica Pegula. High ranking, no majors. Loses every big match against the top players. ---

Netflix is again hosting its own private mini-tournament starting this week. Every single player earns a minimum of $1.5 million, which is a pretty large sum. Anyone interested? I’ll be checking it out. ---

How many of these guys have complained that the season is too long and player health & welfare does not seem to be a concern for the tour? ---

I have a feeling the paycheck and minimal commitment time was a major draw. ---

A Masters 1000 tournament, the Shanghai Open was won by the 204th ranked player defeating his first cousin, the #54, in the final. The winner had previously won only one main draw MATCH in an ATP Tour tournament, a tournament in which he got in via a wild card as it was his local tournament (Monte Carlo Masters). A truly bizzare situation. ---

Kyrgios is apparently going to play Sabalenka in a battle of the sexes. Sunday. However, her court side is smaller by 9%. I think if you are going to do a battle of the sexes, just make it regular tennis with same rules on both sides. He’ll win, of course, but this is kind of silly. ---

@Mahaloth the UK Telegraph agrees with you: “Australian Rennae Stubbs, a former grand slam doubles champion, has been among a sizeable cohort of past players to criticise the event. “What’s in this for women’s tennis?
