In Spanish orchestral music, there is that style that the string section will play that is sweeping, majestic and heroic. Often heard during movie scenes like Zorro making a dramatic rescue or some such (Or when Spanish Buzz Lightyear saves the cowgirl from being buried under garbage). Is there a term for this sound or style of play and what classical Spanish music really does it well?

It’s the _pasodoble,_“double step,” a fast paced military march that was later adapted for a dance of the same name. It’s used during bullfights, _corridas de toros_,

One of the greatest instances of this style is Arturo Sandova’s interpretation of _La Virgen de la Macarena_.

That’s cool, but I was thinking more of the string section than the brass.

That’s closer to what I’m thinking of. And thanks for that post. Great piece of music.
