> But John went to the morgue and saw Riley was beat to hell before she was killed. He has to know that Cameron wouldn’t do that, both because it’s not a Terminator’s style and because it would hurt him.

Also he had a good look at her hands. Judging by the state of them, they showed that she’d put up a fight and inflicted damage to her killer - flesh under the fingernails, grazed knuckles and so on. So I doubt that John thinks Cameron killed Riley because she has no damage and there’s no way in hell that Riley (or most humans) could put up much of a fight going unarmed against a terminator.

The key player will probably be Derek. If John speaks up then I think Derek might be able to work out that two and two together equal Jesse.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t one episode early in this season have a robot Jessie kill the real Jessie? I thought I remembered that and thought it was awesome that they never revisited it, but now I’m not so sure I didn’t see it wrong. Can anyone provide some help here?

Didn’t happen.

Wow, I wonder what it was I saw-- I admit I didn’t watch some episodes closely, but I could have sworn that I saw a scene where Jesse was in the front seat of a car dead and Terminator-Jesse was in the back with like a blade sticking in the real Jesse. It’s so clear in my mind that I fear for my sanity now.

Oh well, I have to agree that this episode was good. I like submarine stuff, and this brought in almost all of the recurring characters from the season. While every episode is not great or even logical, I think this season has really expanded on the first for the better.

That was a scene from Terminator 3 when the T-X killed Claire Danes’ fiancee.

Although Weaver may have pulled off a similar kill this season, I can’t remember. But it seems like her style.

I think you remember a scene from episode 6 “The Tower is Tall But the Fall is Short” when a femalish terminator (that is later bend into a pretzel by our dear Cameron) kills the assistant or office manager of Dr. Sherman from the back seat of her car immediately after she got in.

She was Asian looking so you might have confused Jesse with her.

That was my recollection as well, that a Terminator came from the future to kill Dr. Sherman’s receptionist and that Cameron got into the fight with her in the elevator.

We also see Cameron killing/toruturing the person that her model is based on.

So Temp Terminator killed the receptionist and replaced her. On her way to work one day, Cameron turned her into scrap metal!

The Krakon was cool. Wish we could have seen more it than the diagram.

John’s got to at least suspect Riley’s wounds aren’t Terminator style. Hopefully he’ll have the sense to mention it to Derek.

I usually don’t like much flashback/flashforward side-stories, but this one is interesting. Those three cyborgs by the package, I almost wonder if those were scrubbed, or if it’s possible now there is a faction of cyborgs that have broken away from Skynet. It would be interesting if future John is secretly working together with the rebel cyborgs, but keeping it to himself for now. Who knows, maybe that has something to do with Weaver, too.

Yeah I don’t know if we’re over thinking it or what. But it does seem like there is some sort of third faction. Whether they’re humans who want to co-exist with robots or robots who want to co-exist with humans, I don’t really know but Weaver just doesn’t seem like Skynet material too me. If she was, I’d assume her top priority would be the destruction of John Connors but she’s clearly more interested in developing the AI.

Nothing to do with style. Riley clearly beat the crap out of someone and it wasn’t Cameron.

Although do morgues typically let people come in and hang out with Jane Doe murder victims unsupervised?

First! 😃

Anyway…good episode! At last the angsting and paranoia is both serving a purpose in the plot, _and_ balanced out by some characters acting sane and rational, for once.
So, anyone want to bet that future John is either dead or disabled (sick, or in a coma, or shellshocked in a straightjacket), and that at least Cameron is covering it up?

We apparently saw John, briefly, in Derek’s flashback in S1, true, but that could have been before something happened to him, or a stand-in, or a memory problem on Derek’s part. (To say nothing of temporal changes)

I thought this was a damned good episode. I also like the fact that it’s been determined that they CAN change the future, that things aren’t set in stone.
It’s also one of the first times John Conner has shown the intelligence and initiative that the Leader of All Humanity should have.

I agree–a great episode where we finally get to see why John Conner is worth all this trouble.

I’m unclear on one thing–is it meant to be ambiguous whether Derek killed Jessie or not? His finger was tightening on the trigger when it cut to commercial. But later, he said something like “John Conner let her live.”

I think it was meant to be ambiguous. The first time he said it he finished the thought. “John Conner let her live. I’m not John Conner”.

The second time he didn’t finish the thought so it could be either.

“John Conner let her live. I’m not John Conner”
or
"John Conner let her live. I follow John Conner.

When Derek and John had their conversation near the end of the episode, Derek emphasized to John that people follow him in the future. So I’m guessing that Derek followed John’s order to let Jessie live. Leadership has to begin somewhere, and John has gradually begun showing signs of his potential.

I thought this was an excellent episode – I liked how Ellison helped John Henry ‘finish his monsters’ :p, but in the end, John Connor tipped to the human side. Also, the liquid terminator seems to confirm the suspicion of a third faction – I like how the show’s tearing up the strict ‘good humans vs. evil machines’-dichotomy.
