I work in downtown Minneapolis. In the street below (Nicollet Mall), there is a man attempting to play Christmas songs on the tuba. He’s there at least once per week. I work on the 8th floor and it’s distracting. I feel sorry for the people who work closer to the ground. Anyone else in downtown Minneapolis? Can you hear what I hear? \ ---

I work in suburban Minneapolis. I hear no tuba players. However, I am humming Christmas songs and driving my coworkers into fits of rage. My intention is to incite one of them to burn down the building so I can have a long vacation. ---

When I lived in the dorms at LSU, one night a lone tuba player was making his way through the courtyard, tubaing happily as he walked: “whomp…whomp…whomp…” seemingly random notes. Someone yelled out of their window, “Shut the fuck up!” The guy turned to face the voice, and gave a big “WHOMP!” then proceeded as before. “whomp…whomp…whomp…” ---

**Lego:** Thank you for not perpetuating the stereotype of tuba players going “oompah, oompah,” as everybody knows it’s the tubas (tubae? tubii?) who go “oomp, oomp” and the horns who go “pah, pah.” god, I miss playing the tuba. Brute force and music all wrapped up into one. ---

Me too. I loved the tuba. I always enjoyed riding from the high school to the marching band practice field on my Honda Express with my Sousaphone. Nerdy? Sure. Memorable and instantly recognizable? Definitely. Out of curiosity, how many (former) tubists are there here? ---
