# Test thread — to test things out. Do not lock!

Apparently, in Discourse the footnotes can be either this type \[1\] or  
the other type [2], but not both. This can be selected by the site  
admin (I think **ECG** could do it). Currently ours is set to type [1]  
I have no idea why both are not available - they are decidedly different.  
Maybe we could poll the SDMB members to ask which would be preferable and  
use that setting…  
(This has come up before …)
