# Testicular torsion? Ever heard of it?

Testicular torsion is one of my main phobias. It sounds awful.

It’s not only the result of extreme physical exertion. My 6 week old son had this condition, and it must have been terribly painful because the only way to stop him from crying was to position him on my chest while we were lying down. But it only helped for an hour or so and it ultimately drove us to the hospital where he was diagnosed later that day and did, indeed, lose one testicle. Next month, at age 41, he’s getting married, and we have high hopes for grandchildren!
