> Not a fair comparison.

This from you?

The story to which you linked noted that hired professionals were not keeping up on knowledge essential to their jobs. Nothing in the story indicated that the people of Texas had voted to accept bad testimony. Nothing in the story indicated that the people of Texas had deliberately chosen to only hire people who were not staying current on their training. For that matter, there is no evidence presented that the arson investigators deliberately chose to maintain their ignorance on some topics.

I agree that those guys should be sent out for training. I would agree that it might be wise if all investigators were required to maintain ongoing training. (Have you any evidence that this situation is unique to Texas?) I will even agree on the broader principal that the state of Texas is fairly lax in providing due process in criminal cases, particularly capital cases.

However, you have taken a single incident of less than professional behavior (with no indication of deliberate malice or even evidence of dereliction of duty) and have used it to blast out a condemnation of every human in one state.

Talk about bad comparisons.

And the Texans that oppose their state’s bloodlust are the worst. You know it is wrong but you don’t do enough to stop it. This man’s blood in on your hands.

**Acqua** , thank you for the blinding display of ignorance on your part. Would you please post proof that every citizen of Texas suffers from “blood lust”?

This will come as a shock to you, but the Texas Penal Code isn’t all that different from the Penal Codes of the other states. Have mistakes been made? I’m sure they have. But guess what? They’ve been made in other states as well. Why aren’t your panties in a knot over that?

In the words of the famous philosoper Confuscious: Fuck off.

Well, I’ve always said there’s nothing suicide fixes that a good homicide couldn’t put to rights. We could always drag out the lawmakers and set fire to THEM…

Because nobody ever, ever protests in Austin or in front of the state capitol. [This](http://www.workers.org/2005/us/texas-1117/), for example, never happened.

…because…they have to eat and feed their children?

Why don’t you refuse to work until all states no longer use the death penalty? Or until the war in Iraq is ended? Or until Mommy gives you back your rattle?

But – but we’re TEXANS! We can’t use peaceful means! ☹😕

and yes, for the humor-impaired, my suggestion of hauling Rick Perry out by his hair and dousing him with kerosene is NOT serious.

that’s what propane is for

Tell you what, Acqua.

Why don’t YOU go down to Austin and set yourself on fire in front of the state capitol building?

I’m sure that with your brave example maybe another person like you who believes that Texans–all Texans–are evil, will go down and set THEMselves on fire in protest too.

You know, if one person, just one person does it they may think he’s really sick and they won’t listen to him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony, they may think they’re both faggots and they won’t listen to either of them. And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people going down to Austin and setting themselves on fire. They may think it’s an organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day, I said fifty people a day going down to Austin and setting themselves on fire. And friends they may think it’s a movement.

And that’s what it is.

If that wasn’t bad enough, everyone at this site is responsible for you being so stupid. Everyone, listen:

YOU ARE PART OF AN INTERNET THAT ALLOWS MOUTH-BREATHING DUMBSHITS TO FEEL SUPERIOR AND COMPASSIONATE SIMPLY BY YELLING AT OTHER PEOPLE ON A MESSAGE BOARD. ALSO, SOME OF THE PORNOGRAPHY IS VERY GROSS.

We’ve got to do something about this, post haste. This problem belongs to all of us – there’s no ‘I’ in Internet.

\<smacks self for replying to this inane thread\> :smack:

**"That guy who burned himself in protest over Vietnam."** Maybe it’s because I was born in Vietnam (and currently live in Texas) that I can’t help but swing at your underhand pitch. Do you have ANY idea what the fuck you’re talking about, or is a Rage Against The Machine album cover the extent of your historical literacy in that area? Do you know what the man in that famous picture was protesting? Do you know who he was or what he was? Do you understand that his self-immolation didn’t solve a damned thing?

When does your guest membership expire?

Just to let you know. My state, Illinois, addressed this problem already. I was part of that. I voted for Ryan - a flawed yet great man who is being attacked for political reasons.

Why can’t you do the same Texas?

The internet has a different structure than the political structure of a state.

But aI find it funny you attack me instead of the Texans who are murdering people.

I knew a guy who would take a lighter, push down the gas button to pump some of the inflammable stuff into his hand, and then flick the lighter so that he would, if briefly, have a little fireball in his hand. It looked really cool.

So… that’s how.

You’re ignoring the part where this wasn’t a decision made by people we elected? That instead it was incompetence on the part of the INVESTIGATORS? Or is this just a general death penalty rant? In which case, fine, rant at the supporters of the death penalty, and they will assuredly answer in kind. Don’t demonize a whole state because something happened in it.

Suicide is different from murder.

Suicide is good. Murder is bad.

Peeople who commit suicide are noble.
