AW! Chief put me in possibles. I got a prior family commitment, if it was my family I could make it,but it is my inlaws and after 28 years they are not all that accepting of me. Besides are you sure this meeting in person is such a good idea? I mean without the personality chip in my computer I tend to come across as a thread hopping, flippant, facetious,wiseass with a tendancy towards pedantic site citing. Houstonians… First, please forgive my slight hijacking. But this fits in with “Texas Dopers”, but doesn’t merit its own thread… If you can scrounge up an 11/28 (Sunday) issue of the Chronicle, check out the main story in the Lifestyle section (F). Although the bastard Marty neglected to mention me by name (after he drank no fewer than two of my precious beers), I am the geologist mentioned in the article. Also, on the picture on page F1, I am the fourth shadow from the right–despite the caption, I am not a student from Galena Park. Again, I apologize for this self-aggrandizing post. ---

Yes, it takes more than 2 hrs from Houston to Dallas. It takes about 4.5 to 5, depending on where in H to where in D, traffic congestion (like I-45 between downtown and Conroe), and getting pulled over. A buddy of mine did downtown Houston to downtown Dallas in two and a half hrs (I’m going blank on the numbers he gave me), but that was in a Fiero with the pedal floored. If you blinked, you’d miss seeing the car you just passed. For those who do better with distances, it’s about 250 mi, again depending the exact coordinates of departure and arrival. ---

Ill be driving to Ft Worth on the 17th if I can talk the wife into going im there.
