The worst-hit areas in the country - New York, Detroit, Seattlet, etc - have been ravaged, but they will be recovering just as the disease is starting to hit other cities and communities that have escaped the carnage so far. Some of these areas will have fewer fatalities but the healthcare systems in some places have less capacity to deal with COVID. Their healthcare systems will quickly become overwhelmed. ---

For whatever it’s worth, the major cities in Texas locked down well before the state. DFW mostly was in lockdown by the 22nd, and schools were either on spring break or cancelled after the 13th. Houston, Austin and San Antonio were withing a couple of days of that: So while Texas didn’t officially go into lockdown until the 31st, most people, and the most densely populated regions, were ahead of that. It turns out County Judges, one of those downticket positions, hold a shocking amount of power in Texas. And the county judges of the cities are not fucking around with this. ---
