If McCain can run at 71/72 years old, Hillary can run again in 2012 or even 2016, right?

She doesn’t seem to take bad news very well…

I doubt it. Too many of the Powers That Be in the Democratic Party feel (with some justification) that she’s already passed the point where she should have bowed out to enable Obama to focus his attention on winning in November.

He has been closing the gap everyday in the last 2 weeks in Ohio. Margin of error being around 4, that race is neck and neck, and by this time next tuesday expect Obama tied or ahead. Further, if he simply ties her in Ohio and takes TX, RI, VT it’s over. Hell if he ties her across the board it’s over.

[QUOTE=Phlosphr]
It is a great time to be an Ohio Democrat. A good friend and colleague of mine lives in Cincinnati and work for UC and said that after [this](http://www.uc.edu/news/NR.asp?id=7924) rally, the ENTIRE campus was abuzz with Obama and that she as a professor of Psychology was especially pleased with the high student turn out for him. Aparently there was supposed to be a Clinton rally the week before but it was cancelled.

She also mentions that Obama staffers were on campus a month ago, planning and scouting. If that’s not organization I don’t know what is. She goes on to infer what many are thinking already in the buckeye state, that Obama appears to be much more organized and on the ball than the Clinton Campaign.
[/QUOTE]
[This article](http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1717150,00.html)poses some stark contrasts between the two campaigns:

> [@](#):
>
> All winter, the heart of Hillary Clinton’s campaign in central Ohio was Jamie Dixey’s apartment in the affluent Columbus suburb of New Albany. She started by inviting nine friends over to listen in on a national conference call with Clinton. She organized two monthly meetings, both of which attracted about 10 people. “It was very hard to get people interested because it was so early,” Dixey says. In the world of traditional Democratic Party campaigns, this was enough to qualify Dixey as a star volunteer. She won an invitation to Governor Ted Strickland’s rally on Jan. 19 formally kicking off Clinton’s grassroots campaign in Ohio.
>
> Dixey’s counterpart on the Obama campaign, Valli Frausto, signed up to volunteer for Obama on Feb. 11, 2007, the day after he announced his candidacy. Immediately she found the social networking section of Obama’s website, [my.barackobama.com](http://my.barackobama.com), which campaign insiders affectionately call “MyBO.” Frausto posted a personal profile, just as she would on MySpace, and met other supporters online. Within six months, her group of three women had grown to over 200 members. Together they used the website’s event planning tools to organize Obama for President picnics, neighborhood cleanups, phone banks and a 5K fund-raiser run.
>
> After Super Tuesday, as national staff for both campaigns descended on Ohio, Obama’s state leaders began flexing the power of MyBO and the grassroots network it spawned. Across the state, Obama’s 300 web-based groups started canvassing neighborhoods three days to a week before Clinton’s campaign, supporters on both sides say.

Wow.

Ok, that’s funny. I just talked to her on the phone on Sunday! I’m also part of the MyBO community, and partnered with someone who was trying to raise $1,000 for Obama. She had already collected about $200, so I pledged to match each additional increment of $18 with $5 worth of Obama supplies, up to $220, half going to Texas and half going to Ohio. When I called the Columbus office on Sunday to find out what they need most\*, I got Valli on the phone. 🙂
(\*For the record, they’re **desperate for bumper stickers** and ask that they be ordered through [www.demstore.com](http://www.demstore.com) and sent to the [Columbus office](http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/ohoffices).)

She knows this is it for her.

There are too many other just as, or even more so, prominent women already in the wings to become the first female PotUS. Women with much better resumes and much, much more likeable personalities. One of whom(I hope), Gov. Sebelius of Kansas, very likely could already be in the White House in '09 as Obama’s VP.

I’m sure this won’t be Hillary’s last effort, but it certainly is her last chance. Any hope she once had of rebounding in later elections, has been left on the other side of what’s left of the bridges destroyed in the wake of fire she’s left on this campaign trail.

I think her best bet now is to do like Ted Kennedy and become a real force in the Senate, rather than just using it as a means to her end.

She could do a heck of a lot of good there. She’s not so much on working in front of the scenes because there’s so much baggage attached to her name, but she might make a really excellent Majority Whip.

I respect McCain for so emphatically disavowing that goofball rally-warmup guy. I really think McCain will try to keep the campaign on the high road… but there will be plenty of 527s and _uber_-conservatives who, in desperation, will try to win ugly like Bush/Rove.

Clinton didn’t land the knockout blow she needed in the debate last night, IMHO (not that I really ever thought she could). Don’t know why both Russert and Williams needed to be involved, but I thought Obama came through just fine. I think there’s a real chance he could win all four states on Tuesday.

My wife’s birthday is March 6, too. We could all get a nice birthday present with a Clinton withdrawal!
