Yeah, but Texas football is tradition bound. Two things you can’t do: a) be an asshole (specifically, a cheating asshole) and b) forget who’s who in the state.
Mack Brown is a perfect example of a successful coach who is Texas-savvy. He’s not from here, but you wouldn’t know it. He knows the state, knows the history of Texas football - not just UT’s but all of the college programs. He always acknowledges the president, regents, and AD in his comments to the media. He has a terrific connection to the high school coaches in the state as well.
I don’t follow Tech football a whole lot. But Leach’s rep is two-sided. On one hand he’s the pirate loving guy with the high tech offense that gives great quotes. On the other, he’s a jerk that makes cracks about his team’s “fat little girlfriends” and strays off the reservation.
It seems they have hired a very good coach, Tuberville who Auburn fired after he averaged over 8 wins per year.
It looks like they won’t automatically go back to being an average team or worse.
Fuck Tommy Tuberville. I hope Texas Tech never wins a game with that asshole as head coach.
