These religious folks have already had it with me saying “Gesundheit”. I dare not “Godzilla” them! But I like it.

@enipla, my husband never sneezes fewer than ten in a row. I don’t bother saying anything to him because he’s never finished.

At the dollar store yesterday, the cashier was telling each customer to have a blessed day. When it was my turn to check out, I said, “Hi, how are you?”, and he replied, “Blessed!” 🙄  
I should’ve said, “I’m Damned, nice to meet you!”

I’m as much of a dyed-in-the-wool atheist as you can get, after having been reared in a Protestant Christian familiy. I figure I take it in the spirit intended, no skin off my nose, and I’ve certainly got plenty of other things to worry about that are much more pressing or important.

I find myself responding “Thanks, but it’s not gonna help at this stage.” If it wan’t meant religiously it’ll get a laugh, if it was, it generally shuts them up.
