People ranting about 2012 drive me nuts. Thanks for a balanced and informative report on this and the much overblown “Mayan predictions”.

First, welcome to the Straight Dope Message Board, **Interlingua** , we’re glad to have you with us.

Second, thanks for the kind words! Objectivity is what we strive for, and we’re pleased that it’s appreciated. (I wrote that Staff Report.)

Finally, when you start a thread, it’s helpful to other readers to provide a link to the column or staff report in question. Saves searching time, and cuts down (a little) on confusion.
