I don’t find it at all creepy; it’s fascinatting and I’d love to see it close up.
You’ve been watching too much RoboCop (perhaps you can tell me why RoboCop never gets shot in the chin, hmmm?).
Count me in among those who think “WTF?”
Not about the robot. I think it’s cool. No, I wonder why other people think it’s creepy.
Asimov was right.
Well, If it’s so damn creepy looking, you can always just put pants and a shirt on it. Really, I think that would take the creepiness factor down to about zero. If the face still creeps you out, you can put a baseball hat or some sort of non-scary halloween mask on it.
DocCathode: Since when do gorillas go deep-sea diving?

My introduction to the Sons Of Ether was a depiction of a lovely Scientist and her servant. A perfect copy of Ro-Man, standing 3 feet tall and holding a serving tray.
Now, this thread gives me the perfect opportunity to share that image with others, and I can’t find it!
BTW- I think I understand why the Lady Eve is so shaken by this ad. What is proper attire for a robot? How does a lady address a robot? What happens if two women arrive at a ball to find that they have identical robots?
It’s not the thought of Asimo going mad like some tiny HAL. Her fear is that unlike HAL (I’m sorry. I can’t do that, Dave) Asimo won’t be polite while running amok.
I’m gonna set my Asimo to Cylon voice mode. When I get one that is. Think he’ll have the Honda emblem on him?
I think I’m right in saying that ASIMO is not particularly dextrous; the hands appear to have independent fingers but they alway just seem to roll open one finger at a time and close in the reverse fashion. Most of the work has gone into the balance and locomotion, which nobody can deny is pretty impressive.
I want one.
I think the biggest fear with Asimo is that you’ll lay out ten thousand bucks or something, and it’ll turn out to be LAME.
