Mr. Wrek has a shelf in the barn. It’s up high. He keeps scents, baits, and other stinky things on it. Dillon has focused on this shelf since nearly, day one. Never matter, he can’t reach it. Well, just imagine what happened today? He lives in a kennel in the barn. Son-of-a-wrek comes and lets him out. Then they take a long run, Son on the ATV, Dillon running. This morning they came back and Son feeds dog and comes in to feed himself. Later. I’m back from dialysis and Dillon comes to the deck. Skunk dog. We all run inside. Son goes to the barn to check out what he’s gotten into. Horrors! Somehow…that dog got to that shelf. I think he jumped and jumped til he pulled it down. Son thinks he came from the loft down. (He can climb the loft ladder) Anywhoo, he opened, ate, licked and rolled in everything up there. Fun was had. I just hope Male deer don’t smell the doe scent on him. His life could get tough. ---

Dillon has been washed in water with Gains 'goodbye every odor ’ fabric softener, added. Seems Mr.Wrex talked to some other old hunter/dog keeper and that was his ‘informed’ opinion. Now folks, I don’t recommend this, at all. Not sure of the safety issues. Altho’ he’s already been sprayed thoroughly with Febrez and washed in Dawn liquid and other pet skunk odor removers. All to no avail. I was asked to sniff. And my determination is he stinks in a whole other way, now. Gain is a sickening smell, IMHO Dogs! and old hunter guys ---

Ugh. Stink on top of stink. When my English setter got skunked, the only available option was tomato juice. It dyed his fur pink. He was a stink in pink. I hope you find the magic destink-ifier, Beck. ---

Did you try a good commercial skunk odor remover? When Bernie got skunked, I had good success with “Nature’s Miracle” skunk odor remover from Petsmart, followed by dog shampoo. It was a long time ago and I don’t remember if it needed two applications, but it did eventually work, and Bernese Mountain Dogs have very thick double coats. I’m thinking that because Eau de Skunke is one of the most odiferous substances in existence, anything that can deal with that can probably deal with anything, but who knows. Poor Dillon! He was just curious and wanted to play. ---

Dillon finally has started smelling ok-ish. I saw him for a minute on my way out to dialysis. I told him, “oh, boy you’re not so disgusting” He promptly went and rolled in rabbit poop. That dog won’t do!
