That touchy abortion thang...

That may have something to do in some way with the three women that you earlier mentioned you knocked up, but what does it have to do with complete strangers you will never meet?

Drain Bead: You are incorrect. The term you might be searching for is ignoratio elenchi, but that does not describe my refutation. It was an extrapolation based on her definition of parasitic life. I was merely pointing out that her given definitions can be logically applied to other circumstances. I was not stating that the relation of consequence was convertible (i.e., if an unwanted fetus results in an abortion, all aborted babies are unwanted).

You, of all people here, should not be referring to logical arguement with your ludicrous:

AHunter3: You’re right we have reached some common ground - glad you pointed that out!

Although it does look an awful lot like you believe that women need not be responsible for their sexual actions. It would also seem that you are implying that I am trying to harness women’s sexuality. Are these correct interpretations? If not, then I think we’ve reached a recent resolution of this issue - and maybe I should read your postings with a little less scrutiny. . .

Hell is Other People.

Oh, I almost didn’t respond to your comment pldennison - what the hell are you talking about?

I clearly stated that if we hold one party responsible, we must hold the other responsible as well. I did not distinguish between lover or stranger; it applies to both.

If you were simply trying to use my past as ammunition against me, you are truly shooting blanks. At least Drain Bead is attacking the issue, not the man (although she may wish to do both).

Hell is Other People.

AHunter says…

More to the point, having a sexuality is not a voluntary act.
In short, flirting with a man and dropping her pants cannot be construed as voluntary on the part of the female in the same sense that taking a resume-fertility pill or switching off her microchip-controlled implant would be voluntary.

Gie me a break…sex IS voluntary…many of us have strong libidos, and other strong urges…we are still acountable for what we do wheter it is gambling…sex…driving cars (I have STRONG urges to drive muscle cars as fast as I can…too bad Mr Officer dont give a shit)

Ahunter also says However, to say in essence, “If she’s slutty enough to have sex, she should have to maintain and give birth to any pregnancies that result from sex” is mean-spirited and unfair.

Funny how YOU put the perjorative term slutty where I certainly did not…guess you equate the notion of personal responsibility with name calling…Should I have to be responsible for gambling debts I incur…or just chalk it up to gambling libido?

And YES I DO think the male should be held accountable…and am upset that we as a society have lacked the balls to make the male equally as accountable…(within certain biological constraints  )

Fine, Sake–exactly what do you want this women to pay? Exactly what is the value, in monetary terms, of a child that was never even born?

So, Rousseau, you are asserting that all fertilized zygotes have an unequivocal right to be born; and that once they are born, they do not have the right to use the drugs of their choice (on another thread)? How do you figure those?

I was just curious as to why pldennison keeps answering questions with more questions? You’d be a great politician.

pl, Did you have the vasectomy after you were married? Why not before,if you were sure you didn’t want children? Either way, that was really responsible on your part. Some men say contraception is the woman’s responsibility. My first time was with a man who had a vasectomy. I felt much safer;the reason I waited til 26 to have sex;I didn’t want children, and I knew there was always a chance, even with condoms.

Rose, I had mine after we had been married for three years. By that time we were both absolutely sure we didn’t want kids. (Keep in mind, I was married at 21. It would be hard to get a doctor to consent to a vasectomy at an age much earlier than that.)

Phil, you sure you’d never want a little phil running around? It would kill you though if he got saved! Anyhoo,so whats the solution? Better sex ed? Better contraception? What would happen if there were no more legal abortion? How many were there before 1973? Was it a deterrant? Could I ask any more questions??
