That traditional ice cream van tune.

. . . which generations of Clevelanders know as Captain Penny’s “Pooch Parade” theme.

ours is “She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain”. It hurries everyone up because if you listen to it too long you will blow your brains out, ha. I am convinced the driver is deaf.

Have you ever noticed that Turkey in the Straw is nearly identical to Do Your Ears Hang Low?, at least in the first few bars?

Ha! Thank you! Never knew the name of the tune, but it’s the one that the trucks here in Cape Town used.

Usually one of the above-mentioned tunes around here (suburb of Denver).

But in my head I hear my 10 year old singing:
(tune of Iron Man)

I am Ice Cream Man
Running People over in my ice cream van
Kids all run in fear
Running children o-over in 4th gear…

Inigo, go ahead and tell your son that he wins. At whatever that was.

OMFG! Yeah, that is the tune sought after in the linked thread above. Now if I can only find the NAME for it.

Whoop! THIS is the song. Still need a name for it, though.

Sorry, no. The tune I described isn’t *The Whistler and His Dog. *But it’s about that tempo, maybe a little faster. Seems to be in 6/8.

YES!!! That’s the one I was trying to describe. Now, what’s the name of it?

I’m not ashamed to admit that I had a HUGE crush on Captain Penny.

As an aside, this thread is a good illustration of why we have location fields. The OP already knew from his Googling that there were many different ice cream truck tunes used throughout the world, and yet he still expected us to know automatically what he meant by the One True Ice-cream Truck Tune. If he had specified that he was in England, then we’d know he meant “the ice cream truck tune used in England”, and might have been able to find the answer much quicker.
