The Pens were completely and totally dead in the third period-the Wings were beating them to just about every single solitary puck. I knew the only chance they had was when the goalie got pulled, and well you know what happened then. The Wings then spent 3 1/2 periods getting great scoring chances, and never cashing in, and finally took one stupid penalty too many.
Now that was a HOCKEY game! Two more like that and I don’t care who wins.

Up until Monday, I was convinced that the Soviets were going to win this series easily. When the Pens had a 5-3 power play and did nothing but skate around with their limp dicks in their hands, I said “This series is over”. I still think the Soviets will be hoisting the cup, but…if the Pens build off that OT win and take the game tonight, is game 7 a foregone conclusion for Detroit anymore?
No. I don’t like Detroits chances if it goes to a game seven. That’s way too much momentum to give up. They have to win this tonight or they may as well kiss the cup goodbye.
The biggest thing Detroit needs to do tonight is keep Pittsburgh off the board. It’d be best if they could score first and early, but with the energy the Pens will have after the triple ot win they’d do nearly as well to keep them scoreless and put their defense back in their heads.
