Yeah, not concerned about making the playoffs. But winning the division and getting a home game would be key to having a chance to go deep.
I missed the Watt injury, but they said he walked off the field on his own?
He rolled his ankle and it might not be that bad; he might not even miss any games, though nothing is certain yet.
Tomlin also lumped the former Defensive Player of the Year in with other Steelers for whom the “door is ajar” to play vs. the Ravens on Saturday, including wide receiver George Pickens (hamstring), Lary Ogunjobi (groin), and QB2 Justin Fields (abdomen).
Getting Pickens back would be huge.
Another fumble when about to score, this time by Wilson. SMH. And then Lamar takes over. Grrrrr…
Sydney Morning Herald?
Shaking My Head.
This game is notably lacking defense, which is really unusual. The winner being the last one with the ball, however, is not. That’s how it seems this game will end.
One score down and Romo Wilson throws the pick-6.
I was hoping they’d win one or two of these games, but injuries, three games in 11 days, and poor play (mostly ball protection and turnover ratio) has left them “reeling”. I put that in scare quotes because there are still moments and the games are still mostly competitive, but they’re just doing stupid things at bad times.
So hopefully the Texans win tonight and Pittsburgh closes out strong with the Bengals. If not, well, they’re still in the playoffs, albeit on the road.
Hope you guys all had a good holiday.
Looks most likely the Ravens will win the division.
We’re screwed as far as the division is concerned. I can’t see Cleveland putting up any kind of fight against the Ravens. What is of utmost importance now is getting that 5 seed and getting to play Houston in Round 1.
I just did a quick what-if on the ESPN playoff machine, and it appears that the Steelers win any and all tiebreakers against both the Broncos and Chargers.
The Chargers play the Pats and Raiders, which appears to be two wins for them. Thus, as you are probably aware, Pittsburgh needs to beat the Bengals next weekend; the game is in Pittsburgh.
Yep, we beat them both so have the tie breaker. I’m hoping that the Bengals will be out of the running by next week, but that also means we need both Denver and LAC to win this weekend.
Just to add to the pile-on, yeah, I think after the sound shellacking Ravens made of Texans of late…and the indignity of the Steelers on the Chefs game…Steelers are going to be about one and done come the post-season.
It’s a little bit like last season…Bills are going to face Ravens yet again in post, and, yet again, Buffalo is not likely going to have much of an answer to Derrick Henry. And Lamar, but, you know. We have our own QB too, and he’s pretty darned good!
Buffalo’s Tyler Bass seems to have rediscovered how to kick against NE game last, but that should have been a blowout game. Instead, it looked like a (typical) KC game.
Don’t think it’s theoretically possible for Bills to get the #1 AFC seed given this late unpleasantness. It’s possible, I guess, but not very likely.
The Chiefs have already officially locked up the No. 1 seed.
They cannot finish any worse than 15-2, while Buffalo cannot finish any better than 14-3.
Yeah, that checks out.
Thanks for the ray of sunshine! ![]()
Last season the Bills did not play the Ravens in postseason. Both teams lost to the Chiefs in the playoffs.
Also, Derrick Henry played his entire career with the Titans until this season. Buffalo has not ever played the Titans in the postseason during Henry’s career.
Bills and Ravens did meet this season, with Baltimore winning 35-10. Henry had a big game, carrying the ball 24 times for 199 yards and a touchdown, and catching three passes for 10 yards and another touchdown.
Right now it is looking likely that the Bills and Ravens will be the #2 and #3 seeds, and will play each other if they both win their wild-card round playoff games.
I didn’t realize that Cincy is playing Denver this week. So we want to Denver to win, and then hopefully Cincy sits major players in week 18.
This f***ing team is so undisciplined. It’s laughable that people tout Tomlin year after year. He should’ve been fired years ago!
I’ll address the Tomlin thing in a minute.
So they said early on when the schedule was released that the second half of the season was going to be brutal. They were not kidding.
Let’s be honest here. Pittsburgh played three of the best teams in the NFL in 11 days. That’s a lot to ask of any team, and the outcome was maybe not expected but it’s at least understandable. Last night was somewhat less so.
It’s long been the most frustrating thing about the Steelers that they regularly come out flat on both sides of the ball only to later remember how to play and either eke a game out or get close to doing it, which makes me wonder why. If they can somehow make a big comeback week after week, why not simply start out with the plays and/or the enthusiasm that allows them to do that? It just doesn’t make any sense.
So today we find out who they get in the first round. Barring a miracle from the Raiders against the Bolts they’ll be playing the Rats next week. They did beat them earlier this year, and then got smoked by the them a few weeks ago, and Playoff Lamar always finds a way to blow it so they have a decent chance of winning if they come out of the gate with a pulse for a change.
Now, Tomlin. I simply can’t understand why so many people have wanted him to be fired for so long. I get that his recent playoff success has been nonexistent, but there are countless teams that would kill to have his kind of success. And who do they hire if they fire him? He’ll have a job before the news conference announcing his departure is over.
Agreed. This is his 18th year as head coach of the Steelers. He’s won two conference championships and one Super Bowl. This year will be the 12th time his team will be in the playoffs. And he’s never had a losing record.
