There are so many great movies there that it’s hard to pick a favourite, although I’m sure the voters will select one of the lesser ones like _One Battle After Another_. If that wins BP, and DiCaprio wins Best Actor, I’m giving up on the Oscars. Same if _Marty Supreme_ wins anything. FWIW, my faves – in no particular order – are _Sentimental Value_, _Hamnet_, and _Frankenstein_, with _Bugonia_ and _Train Dreams_ trailing a little behind. ---

This may be the first time my favorite and my prediction for Best Picture align. _One Battle After Another_ hits the sweet spot for Academy voters wanting to acknowledge the ridiculous state of our politics right now. They’ll make it up to _Sinners_ with Best Actor and a half dozen other well deserved wins. Amy Madigan is going to win for not just a great performance but also to make up for snubs of _Weapons_ in other categories. My personal victory will be if _Marty Supreme_ gets completely shut out. ---

It’s weird how Leo has basically no shot at winning when he seems like such a sure thing when One Battle first opened. Micheal B Jordan is now the front runner ahead of Timmy. It would be really cool if Wagner Moura managed a win, and the Brazilian contingent is strong. I’d probably say now it’ll be Jordan, and well-deserved. ---

Alright, I have finalized my Oscar predictions. Three of the four acting awards are _really_ up in the air and can go in several ways. (Jessie Buckley will win. The other three, I dunno!) I suspect I will be wrong in one or more of those three categories but I had to choose someone. Best Picture: One Battle After Another Best Director: Paul Thomas Anderson Best Actor: Michael B. I Presume this is going to be the watch along thread, if any thread is? I have not seen the Oscars in decades, I have never really had the means to for a long time, but I recently got live TV on Hulu, so I figured… Why not? Why not catch them tonight? This will be the first time I’m catching them as they go on since probably… Maybe early 2000s. I’m strangely excited so I am obviously looking for and hoping a watch along threat exists, I assume this will be it. Also, I am woefully behind when it comes to movies. I am behind on my movies by at least 6 or 7 years, so I have not even heard of any of the movies nominated in any of the awards tonight, but that’s not the reason why I watch anyway, I like to watch just for the excitement and the spectacle and to be able to say that I watched. ---

So is it a spoiler to say what won? I mean, I know that some record things to watch later and some might catch things later on on streaming services like peacock or hulu. I don’t really know what the rules are regarding these threads. ---

I may not watch it until tomorrow, but I would say it’s absolutely NOT a spoiler to say what won – it’s kinda hard to avoid if you go to any news source, which will be blasting the major winners in giant headlines! So, IMHO, go nuts! 🙂 I’m sure I’m going to disagree with many of the picks, so may as well get my disappointment out of the way ahead of time! ---
