The 9th Annual Steelers March to the Super Bowl Thread

Especially the way this year has gone, with weird upsets (The Chiefs beat the Packers? THE CHIEFS?) all over. Who would have thought the Seattle/Cards game would be the down-to-the-minute cliffhanger?

Probably not as tough as you hope although…it hasn’t been officially announced yet but Mendenhall looks to have a torn ACL.

The rumor is that Anthony Madison will be brought back to shore up the secondary since Ryan Clark nearly died from sickle cell complications when he played in Denver a few years ago. No word on RB signings but Clay has looked pretty good to me.

It’s been confirmed: Mendenhall is out with torn ACL.

I wonder who will be the third RB. Is Mwelde Moore ready to return? I had to watch the last game in Spanish. I heard his name a couple but I have no idea what they were saying!

Fuck Tebow – he’s gonna get crushed by the Steel Curtain. I’m tired of hearing about him all the time. You’d think he’s the second coming of John Elway.

I have a dumbass question – why did the Steelers wear their home jerseys and the Browns wear their away-ones? What was up with that?

The home team decides which uniform to wear. Why they picked that one for that game I don’t know.

The Browns wore their white uniforms in every game this season.

From WTAE:

and regarding Mwelde Moore:

Don’t know much about Spann except that he scored a lot of TDs in college.

The RB coach, Kirby Wilson, was badly injured in a house fire so the group will either be distracted or driven. Burns to 30% of his badly, not life-threatening though.

The Steelers are beaten, bruised and bloodied but they will rise again this Sunday.

After months of hearing about how bad Tebow is, you can hardly blame me for not being overly concerned about the Broncos’ offense. And given how the Broncos were beaten over the past few weeks, the template is there: make the offense go 3 and out and wear out the defense. There’s no reason the Steelers shouldn’t be able to make that happen, injuries, healthy scratches and all.

As a Ravens fan, i’d love to see the Steelers get beaten.

But given how unlikely that is, i’ll settle for seeing Tebow ground into the turf on multiple occasions.

The only possible way I can see the Steelers losing this weekend is if Elway/Fox grows a pair and pulls Tebow for Brady Quinn after Tebow has his typical horrid first half. But if they stick with Timmmmmmmayyyyyyy, I see no way for the Broncos to win, outside of a 3-0 shutout or the Steelers shooting themselves in the foot.

Brady Quinn does not give them a better chance to win, even as bad as Tebow is. The Broncos have no good receivers. Tebow can at least run the ball.

Denver 3-2 win.

Would be the greatest game in the history of the NFL.

While I think DeMaryius Thomas and Eric Decker are far better than you give them credit for, you could still put Tebow on a team with Jerry Rice, Don Hutson, Randy Moss, and Marvin Harrison, and he still couldn’t beat the Steelers, unless the Steelers beat themselves or the Broncos defense can hold them to less than 13 points.

I’ve always been a Broncos fan, so I’ll be rooting for them. I am happy to see them in the playoffs again!

Airman Doors: Thing is, Tebow isn’t always bad. When this offense gets hot, it works. That’s about 1/4th of the time…

When he has McGahee running for 100+ yards, his offensive line blocks almost perfectly, and he’s facing a bad defense that lets him complete easy throws underneath the coverage, he’s not bad. I don’t see that being the case with the Steelers. I hope it is, I hope the Steelers put 9 in the box to stop the run, Tebow buys time with his feet for his receivers to get open , and he throws the ball down the field against one on one man coverage. But my head doesn’t think that will happen.

I hear ya. Hardly anyone’s head thinks that will happen. But I like to look back to the Jets game in which they put 3 nose tackles on the line, confident that would shut down the Broncos’ run offense. It wasn’t a flop of an idea, but the Jets lost and will be sitting at home rooting for the Steelers on Sunday

And I should add that it isn’t Tebow the Steelers should to be most worried about. Ben acts like a traffic cone in the pocket even when he isn’t limping, and Dumervil and Miller will be coming to get him. I expect sacks, lots of pressure, maybe a forced fumble or two. And Champ Bailey has racked up so many interceptions he is practically a defensive receiver. I would not be at all surprised to see him pick off a pressure-flubbed pass.

If they create momentum on D they stay in the game.
