For posterity.
That was a really bad performance by the Steelers’ D. Tebow had 316 yards passing on 10 completions. They kept bringing a safety up to stop the option runs and they got burned on play-action.
Is there any worse way to lose a playoff game? First, the refs were on your side, so you can’t complain about it being unfair. The bounces went your way. You got away with multiple facemasks and flagrant holding.
And the Broncos backed into the playoffs by going 8-8 and losing their last 3 of the year, and when they did win it was sort of weird flukey wins.
And then you got beat by letting Tebow throw for 300 yards against you, when everything was stacked in your favor.
This is worse than Seatle punking New Orleans last year. This has to be the most embarassing playoff loss I can remember in recent history.
I’m going to have to agree with you. How could a team that was number one in defense (not to mention being number one in pass defense) get abused by Tebow? It was embarrassing.
Dick LeBeau is going to retire after this humiliation. And he should. No pressure on Tebow all day, and he completes at least 3 passes over 50 yards.
Bad loss.
The good news is Brady would have chewed them up and spit them out.
The ref’s were on our side? What game were you watching? First of all, the Steelers were flagged for twice as many yards, and the Broncos got away with many, many holds as well. We got a gift on the quick whistle, but the Broncos roughed Ben at least twice and that PI call was very ticky tack.
That said, the Steelers lost because they didn’t defend the deep ball. Period.
I was watching the game where the only reason you were in it was a convoluted way to throw away a 10-14 point swing when you were down 20-6, and proceeded to tackle Denver defensive linemen for the rest of the game.
Sorry Mr Harrison, when you’re a dirty cheap-shotting fuckface and everyone knows it, you won’t get the calls you so richly deserve anymore.
True. That secondary missed Ryan Clark way more than I thought they would.
The officials gave you ten points.
At least 10, probably 14.
That was the most interesting game in the world.
Oh man Harrison’s girlfriend must be getting quite a serious beating right now.
He’s also likely released the hounds on his neighbors miniature horses too. Or was that Joey Porter?
Damn, I can’t keep my dirty Steelers straight!
As someone who has to read ‘ratbirds’ and every other denigration of my home town by various other fans, I will not come here to gloat, but I will express my pleasure.
Go celebrate quietly in your crack den.
I’m not going to excuse what happened but claiming the refs were in the Steelers’ favor is delusional. Ben took many hits that would have been called on anyone else and there was at least one flagrant helmet to helmet hit that went uncalled that would have saved a drive.
Looks like I am rooting for the NFC in the SB this year.
What am I doing in this thread?
Oh yeah…condolences, just wanted to get here before this mistitled thread is closed. Or renamed.
It was probably the altitude, right?
Wait, what about if in OT…
I had some things to take care of today, so I purposely avoided watching the game. I figured that if the pundits were right, I could just catch the highlights (of which there were supposed to have been many) later, and if they were wrong then I probably didn’t want to watch in the first place. I managed to catch the score at 7-6 and again at the half (20-6), and decided I made a wise choice. Finding out how it ended made me doubly glad I didn’t submit myself to it.
I can console myself with the fact that we would have gotten creamed by the Patriots next week anyway. I think I’ll root for a San Francisco/Denver Super Bowl now, while I await the 10th Annual Thread.
Being the superstitious sports nut that I am, I’m going to blame you for making this comment. You DID jinx us.
Not really. 60 full minutes, and the refs never once called the Broncos for their 12th man on the field- Jesus!
But seriously, the Steelers kind of looked like they didn’t know what to do. Defend against the run or what? And the Broncos seemed to have more spectacular plays than usual.
Woot!
