The recent documentary showed that Rubens had an extensive collection of pop culture ephemera, enough to fill a museum on it’s own. It appears as if it’s being sold off piecemeal to private collectors. Too bad, it would’ve been neat to see it on display all in one place. ---

Beyond the issue of just getting the museum built, there have been questions about the authenticity of some of the artifacts. Apparently only 50 items from Phil’s collection will be on display, so I guess there must have been some judicial curation involved. ---

I just finished the documentary about him last night. My wife had never seen the Pee Wee Herman Show, that aired on HBO in 1981 (it was filmed at the Roxy and included the original Groundlings cast), so we watched that. ---
