# The alienist on TNT

I’m watching the commercials and promo spots for the series and I’m not enthused about the changes from the book …I’m wondering if Caleb Carr had much to do with it .

I know since it’s on TV and not hbo there’s gonna be changes to the story but some of the casting and other changes concern me…

Caleb Carr has writing credits for two of the episodes, but isn’t listed as a producer: [The Alienist (TV Series 2018–2020) - Full Cast & Crew - IMDb](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4604612/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ov_st_sm)

I read the book around the time it first came out, and liked it very much. The TNT previews look good to me.

I haven’t seen previews and aren’t likely to, but I looked up the[IMDB page](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4604612/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast) and the first thing that jumps out at me is … Cyrus Montrose is in ONE episode? How does that work? That’s possibly marginally more insulting than simply canning the character completely. If he’s not there as a fully participatory member of the investigating team, then what’s he there for at all?
