I think Mark (or Bill, I can’t remember which is which) actually had a better idea for the roadblock than the real roadblock. When he noticed the same number appearing over and over and counted through the list of locations, the production staff probably said “Hey, that’s pretty good - we should have thought of that!”.

For someone who’s supposed to be athletic, and therefore somewhat tough, Terence is a real crybaby. What the hell is blowing on his head going to do, other that produce a melodious tune as the wind whistles through his ears?

_gasp_
I look forward to this as much as I do the actual program…who shall pick up the slack?

Have fun, and may you always find the clue box!

Good episode although there are some real winners on here. I mean “Now blow on my head” really? On national TV?

I also loved the “I got them to use a bigger plane” lines. Man, if you have that much influence with random people and corporations, maybe you should be negotiating peace treaties or something.

The ticket clerks were afraid the giant knot in the back of her head was going to snap and her whole face would fly off like a botoxed rubber band and take the staff out. THAT’S how you influence people to do your bidding.

Either that or they just got tired of looking at that disaster and did it to get her to go away.

When my daughter was, oh, 4 years old – every time she would bump an elbow (not even denting, much less breaking, the skin) she would demand a bandaid before she would feel better. Terrence is presumably more mature than a 4 year old, right?

My previous favorite Terrence moment was in episode 1. He somehow makes a living as a running coach? And he asks his girlfriend to slow down, because she’s running too fast.

Maybe he coaches people on how to run slowly. An “ambling coach,” as it were.

Right.

The stated idea was that the players had to “embrace Brazil’s laid back lifestyle,” and not over think the clue.

Sounds more like the challenge designers were laid back and got lazy making the challenge.

:dubious:

> _Ken and Tina_ (up from “Passing”) - Did you know Ken cheated on Tina? Yeah, me neither. Hint to Tina: it’s really cool that you got the airline to fly a larger plane, and I thought at the time that it was a great idea, but maybe next time you could ask for a more medium-sized plane? Because the point of getting on an earlier flight is to ensure your team lands AHEAD of the other teams. Directing ALL THE OTHER TEAMS onto THE SAME earlier flight gives you exactly zero advantage. So you just worked your ass off for NOTHING. Dolt. Still, another great finish, so I think I’m justified in moving them up a notch.

Which hearkens back to TAR Rule Number One: THIS IS A FUCKING RACE. Go fast, and leave the other teams in the fucking dust!

Which leads into my TAR guideline on alliances: Never betray any agreement to work together, no matter how small or lightly given – unless by doing so, you guarantee that the other team will come in last on that leg. (Or if it’s the final leg, in which case all deals are off.)

You know what worries me about Anthony? He seems to think that going on a reality show is a way of proving he’s a good provider. Now, going on a show like TAR would tell me many things about a fellow, including the way he handles pressure, how competetive he is, and how much fun he is, but I’d be a little leery of a guy who thinks winning reality shows is a way of being a good provider. When he gets married, maybe it would be better if his wife handled the money matters.

As for the basic rules of racing, I like the geeks. They seem like good, honorable decent guys, the kind I’d like to hang out with or even date. It was nice of them to tell Ken and Tina how to solve the wall. However, it was also incredibly _stupid_ and it cost them first place! Come on, lads! Prove to me that nice, smart, geeky guys finish first, not last!

</div>

By default I’m going with the geeks. They will therefore be out next week. I liked Nick and Starr until he got nasty this week. My gaydar was pinging off the charts with him when they were first introduced and that was before I knew about the musical theater. Meanwhile, I didn’t really recognize her, but she was one of my favorite cheerleaders in Season 1 of making the team. She was one of the few who actually had both a brain and talent. Also, I don’t hate Tina-I just find her sort of sad and pathetic. She’s such a typical first-wife-gets-dumped-for-the-younger-hotter-trophy-wife-type, trying to save her marriage with plastic surgery and fake syrupy niceness. Finally, I agree that Terence is a tool, and the only way Sarah can redeem herself is if she dumps his sorry ass by the end of the show.

Glad to see Terrence living up the potential I foresaw. My God he is a tool. I’m cheering for them to stick around for a few more legs just to see if this season’s Sarah grows a backbone or not.

I’m not sure that they told her, more like she saw what he was doing and asked something like “You’re not just going to write them all down and ask them, are you”? To which he just didn’t lie. Although I’m not sure what on the fly reason you could come up with that **wouldn’t** give away what you were doing.

Totally OT question: what does the “Multiquote” button do?
Tina seriously scares me. By the end of this season, I’m going to be seeing that Botoxed-to-the-gills lizard face in my nightmares. She couldn’t even move her eyebrows when she was overjoyed at coming in 1st!
Tina frightens me, as well. She is a toxic harpy. Although I’m no fan of Ken either, I really wish he would have told her to buzz off when she “shut down” during one of their many spazzathons. They’re going to be around forever, but I suspect they won’t actually win, and that ending could be a lot of fun.

Also, apropos of nothing: I have taught my toddler daughter to wave and yell “Hi, Phil!” whenever he is on the screen. Is this is bad thing?

I’m calling them “Manpon & Botox.”

I don’t like Terrance, but if Manpon had tried to intimidate me like that after I called out his wife on that “I ordered a bigger plane” bullshit he sure as hell wouldn’t be kissing me. I’d see if I could get him to slug me just to get him thrown off the race.

It flags messages that you want to reply to so that when you do finally hit reply all of them are brought in as quotes with links back to the original post.

Does anyone else get a creepy incest vibe from Nick and Starr?

Terrence is a tool, but I also think Sarah is a complete nutbag (“They didn’t even say hi to us!”), so it’s probably kismet.

Hey everybody, Tina got them to switch to a bigger plane! Did you hear that? Tina totally got us a bigger plane! I think no one else called her on it to her face for the same reason you don’t tell the proud five year old who’s got a plastic toolbelt he’s not really helping to fix something.

I’ve only been watching since season 4 and the only brother/sister team in that time (not couning Family) was Azaria & Hendekea in season 10. Did anyone say it about them.

With my luck, someone will dig up that I did…

Dammit, it was me! What the fuck is wrong with me?
Am I the only one who thinks Azaria and Hedekea call each other “baby” much too often to be brother and sister?

I think the last time I called my sister baby was… ya know, I don’t think I’ve EVER called my sister baby. It’s weird.
